VP Commercial (Innovative Trials Inc; Raleigh, NC)
The VP Commercial is responsible for driving the overall company performance through the development, implementation, and execution of business growth strategies across the Business Development, Marketing and Bids & Proposals teams.
Additionally, this individual will act as a member of the Company’s Leadership Team, to advise and implement strategic decisions and provide company insight from the sector and current/forthcoming trends in the marketplace.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Generating new business relationships to grow the Company’s current client base;
- Developing short- and long-term strategic business plans, managing budgets and sales forecasts and performance;
- Leading the commercial team to actively contribute, working closely with marketing functions, to both enhance existing and deliver innovative service provisions to new and existing clients;
- In conjunction with the Finance Business Partner, developing annual commercial department cost budgets;
- Conducting financial feasibility studies and developing proposals for new business opportunities;
- Ensuring the delivery of projects within the team to deadline;
- Functional leadership and line management responsibility for the Contracts & Proposals Manager, Marketing & Communications Manager and Business Development Manager, setting challenging performance objectives and clear, realistic individual development plans;
- Developing and presenting key KPI metrics to the business on a regular basis to monitor impact and growth;
- Defining marketing strategies, prices, and negotiations with the major customers;
- Staying current with changes and enhancements to the marketplace and industry standards, developing and adjusting marketing plans accordingly;
- Providing superior level customer service by providing timely, expertise, and service as required;
- Role models the Company’s values through their work and team with internal and external;
- Being proactive and enthusiastic about delivering great service to our clients.
This role requires up to 14% domestic and international travel. 10% travel is role specific travel, with an additional 4% travel for management meetings. Telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. permitted.
Minimum requirements: 5 years of experience in a business development, sales, marketing, or related role in the life sciences industry.
Must have:
- 5 years of experience with Salesforce;
- 5 years of experience with Linkedin Sales Navigator;
- 5 years of experience with Proposals/contracting software;
- 5 years of experience in contracting and negotiation; 5 years of experience in legal review of contract documentation;
- Must have a strong and established network across the life sciences industry;
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and project management skills along with excellent interpersonal skills;
- Strong Stakeholder engagement skills within matrix environments;
- 3 years of experience of operating at executive level within an organization;
- Proven ability to lead and motivate cross functional teams;
- Demonstrated working understanding of general business/contract law, global supply agreements preparation and negotiations;
- Demonstrated presentation and customer relationship skills; Proven ability to deliver proposals and defend bids.
